BCL (British Consultancy Limited) founded BCCT ((British Consultancy
Charitable Trust).
BCL had been trading as BESO Consulting Limited, the wholly owned
subsidiary of the charity British Executive Service Overseas (BESO)
until BESO's merger with VSO. BCL was then sold to the current
directors and became an independent consultancy whilst still retaining
its principle of donating profits after cost to charity.
The VSO/BESO merger led to a reduction in geographic coverage
of volunteer services resulting in demands from indigenous government
development services, non-government organisations and ambassadors
for coverage and services to be restored.
BCL responded by establishing a Volunteer division complementing
the merged VSO/BESO.
Recognizing BESO's 33 years of experience, a major business process
re-engineering was undertaken to reflect the flexibility and cost
structure demanded by operating without regular government funding.
A web based administration system was developed with matching
organisational structure. Regional management, recruiting, administration
and accounting could thence be conducted from anywhere with internet
access so reducing potential cost and increasing the flexibility
of Volunteer staff.
IT systems for email and back ups were outsourced, dramatically
reducing potential overhead costs and risk.
Volunteer UK and overseas staff were recruited all ex BESO and
a charity created.
Trustees were appointed with influential backgrounds having had
careers as senior partner in a City Law firm, world managing partner
in a major accountancy, director with multinationals operating
in Eastern Europe, development finance and international relations,
retired academic and founder of a medical charity, all of whom
have extensive involvement with charitable activities.
In July 2006 an up and running charity was handed over to the
Trustees. BCL continues to manage BCCT on behalf of the Trustees.
BCL is available to assist in the management and administration
of other charities either as a total project as above, or for specific
functions. |
